We offer a unique combination of resources, technologies and expertise that ensures ultimate quality at competitive prices. We can meet your requirements whether for translation, voice-over or testing services.

Games Localization Process

In IntlSight, we guarantee providing Games Localization services in high level of quality passing through the described below 10 steps for Games Localization.

Our professional project managers study and analyze the client’s request and the game to identify the target language(s) and select the most suitable linguistic teams for the project.

The dedicated project manager confirms the project scope with the client to be aware of the ideal completion deadline, the format of the translated content, the subject matter, the approved terminology, and style guide to follow.

After receiving the game files from the client, IntlSight’s localization engineering team analyzes the game files to determine the best approach to extract translation assets and find as many repetitions and matches as possible. IntlSight project manager prepares a quote with the assistance of our experienced Localization Engineers and estimates the turnaround time.

Once the quote is approved by the client, we proceed with preparing the translation assets (Terminology, Style Guide, Character Guide and Reference Materials)

  • Terminology: A list of common terms in the game content like character names, locations, items, brand names, …) Our teams extract such terminology and prepare for translation, and then get them translated into the target language(s). After getting the terminology translated, we share it with the client to review and approve before using it globally during the game translation. Our localization engineering team creates a TermBase of the approved terminology to be shared with the translation teams.
  • Style Guide: This is a document that includes general translation and language style guidelines such as using formal or casual tone of voice. The Style Guide can also include guidelines for punctuation, capitalization, units of measurement and spelling.
  • Characters Guide: This is a document that lists all the in-game characters with all their properties such as gender, bios, personality traits, styles of speaking, mannerisms, attitudes towards other characters and roles in the game.
  • Reference Materials: This can be some scenes from the game, screenshots, link to the game website or online blog.

Whenever possible, before the project starts, we allow time for the linguistic teams to get familiar with the game by studying the supplied reference materials or playing the game itself, if available.

After having the game content ready for translation and the translation assets in hands, we proceed with the translation process. The game content passes through the same steps as the Document Translation process with reference to the game assets prepared earlier.

After having the game content translated into the target languages, we proceed with the Voice Over recording of the game script. Also, some games require subtitling of the translated script on the game screens.
IntlSight has a wide range of Voice Over artists with different tones, and we deal with professional studios for the script recording. The project manager and an engineer from IntlSight usually attend the recording sessions at the studios, and sometimes we welcome the client to attend live recording sessions through video conferencing.

Some games include images that need to be localized, and some content that need to be adapted to be suitable for the target culture. IntlSight has experienced and professional DTP team to do this.

IntlSight delivers the localized materials (game content, audio scripts and subtitles) to the client to integrate into the game and build the localized version of the game.

IntlSight offers a testing and QA phase as a part of the Games Localization process after the localized game is ready. We offer conducting linguistic testing by our native experienced linguists and functional testing by our professional testing engineers.

Project manager delivers the final translated and QA’ed game content to the client and Engineering team updates the Translation Memories to make use of the already translated content in future projects.

After that, our project manager will be still available to receive any feedback or comments from the customer on the delivered localized game, and IntlSight team will review and implement in the localized game.
