E-Learning localization is the process of modifying eLearning content to adapt to the needs, culture, and preferences of users in a different geographic region. Translation solutions are often the main component of eLearning localization, but other aspects should be taken into consideration such as adapting to local regulations and cultural differences. eLearning localization services involve not only translating the educational content for a new geographic region, but also replacing images and graphics with culturally relevant examples. Localization can be considered essential in order for an eLearning platform to be accessible for users with different native languages.

E-learning takes education beyond the traditional classroom, allowing flexible, self-paced and comfortable learning paths. It is ideal to train employees, as well as to continue one’s education. IntlSight has comprehensive capabilities for clients who want to create multilingual versions of eLearning courses, interactive assessments, or training materials.

We have a specialized practice group for eLearning localization. Our services encompass translation, cultural adaptation, desktop publishing, animation, testing and audio/multimedia services. IntlSight offers the opportunity for our customers to work with us from initial curriculum development to final launch of translated material.

eLearning Localization Process

At IntlSight, we guarantee providing eLearning Localization services in high level of quality passing through the described below 15 steps for eLearning Localization process:

Our professional project managers study and analyze the client’s request and the source eLearning course to understand the subject matter, target language(s) and select the most suitable linguistic team for the project.

The dedicated project manager confirms the project scope and the target language(s) and locale(s) with the client to be aware of the ideal completion deadline, the format of the translated content, the approved terminology, and style guide to follow.

One of the first and most fundamental steps of eLearning localization process is to get all the text and images/graphics in the course translated and localized into the target language(s).

IntlSight project manager prepares a quote, with the assistance of our experienced Localization Engineers and Desktop Publishing specialists, and estimates the turnaround time.

After sharing the quotation with the client and getting an approval on the cost, project scope and turnaround time, the project manager kicks off the project for translation and localization.

Translations are performed by a base translation team and edited and proofread by a second linguistic team with higher experience. All translations are completed by human translators, using translation memory (TM) technologies and QA tools to ensure an efficient and consistent translation.

Our language teams transcribe the audio content (speech) into written scripts (text) with time codes. Then, the scripts got translated and adapted into the target language(s) to be used as subtitles and/or recorded to be embedded into the localized eLearning course.

After TEP step is completed, we assure the translation quality by running different QA tools to check translation consistency, terminology consistency, punctuation, forgotten translations, numbering, …etc.

After having course scrips translated into the target language(s), we proceed with the Voice Over recording. Also, some courses require subtitling of the translated script to be displayed on the screens.
IntlSight has a wide range of Voice Over artists with different tones, and we have our partner professional studios for the script recording.

After getting the eLearning course content and scripts translated into the target language(s), IntlSight’s localization engineering and DTP teams import the translated text into the course and conduct any required engineering tasks like layout flipping (for BiDirectional languages), images localization, cultural adaptation for non-text content, …etc.

Localization testing is conducted by our testing engineers on different devices to ensure the localized course works just the same as the source version and that it functions properly. Linguistic teams test the localized course from the linguistic perspective and verify the translation is complete and consistent across the application.

IntlSight project manager shares a draft version of the localized eLearning course with the customer to approve the translation and provide any feedback or comments.

The linguistic team reviews and implements the customer feedback and the engineering team prepares the final version to deliver to the client.

IntlSight publishes the final course according to client’s specific publication settings.

Project manager delivers all assets (including project package, published course, translation memories, etc.) to client once the project is completed and QA’ed. Engineering team updates the Translation Memories to make use of the already translated content in future projects.

After that, our project manager will be still available to receive any feedback or comments from the customer on the delivered localized course, and IntlSight team will review and implement the required changes.
